Rush, Dobbs, Press Continue Eligibility Coverage

He’s already broached the eligibility issue twice on his most-listened-to radio show, and we have already seen how the press has recently become fascinated with the question. And today, thanks to a news tip from a concerned citizen, this time a caller into Mr. Limbaugh’s radio show brought up the subject along with an overall discussion on Mr. Obama’s policies:

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: John in Punta Gorda, Florida. How are you? Nice to have you with us.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. How are you doing today?

RUSH: Very well, sir, thanks much.

CALLER: Rush, I’d like to talk to you from couple of minutes about honesty and integrity versus the culture or the spirit of deception that we seem to see with Obama. I’m a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and I have three sons who also attend service academies — either the Naval Academy or the Air Force Academy — and we all each in our term have come to understand that lying is an intent to deceive. And any intent to deceive at the service academies is considered to be an honor offense. When I look at Obama — who rides a cult not only of personality but also a culture of deception; when I look at the Saul Alinsky connection deceptions, the Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn and Jeremiah Wright; more recently the birth certificate falsification question; the stimulus lies; the health care results lies; the ACORN connection lies; the firing of the inspector general; and his agenda for us, which he’s just not being forthcoming about — all of these things fall into, in my opinion, this culture of deception.

It’s very difficult to listen to our president without feeling that he is either out-and-out lying or he is posturing something, getting ready to lie. I believe polls are falling not only because the economy is not responding to the stimulus, but also because people are sensing that this cult of deception and lying is, in fact, a big part of who this guy is. I think his moral authority is going fast. And now when he needs to advance his own agenda, he’s in fact reaching a tipping point, and people will not have anything to do with what he says because they simply don’t trust him. When you’re at one of these service academies here, you’re an officer in the service. When you lose your honor and you lose your integrity, you simply lose other people’s trust. And you’re of no use to anybody. Integrity is a mind-set. It’s a mind-set the same way deception is a mind-set. And people who deceive have a pattern of deceiving over and over and over again. I think in his case that this stuff is directly related to a highly dysfunctional family background where he was abandoned by both parents, and his radical early influences. But I also think that this cult of deception on his part is approaching a word that I have not heard relative to this administration, and that is “treason.” I believe that this inability of his to be honest and to be forthcoming and rather to be devious, constitutes serious acts of disloyalty to our sovereign nation. What do you think of that, Rush?

RUSH: Well, I think that you are well spoken, you’re articulate, and I think you’re very honorable. And I think you mean everything you said, and I don’t think you’re making it up, and you’re certainly not trying to deceive anybody. I don’t know. You know, I get a little worn out on the family-made-me-do-it excuse. I have a much simpler explanation, and I am with you. He has to be deceptive. If he were to tell everybody who he really is, what he really thinks and what his agenda really is, he woulda never gotten the Democrat Party nomination, much less been elected president. All liberalism is deceit. All communism is lies. All of socialism is lies. The promises, I should say. The promises of communism, the promises of socialism, the promises of liberalism, are all lies. And it’s all out there to see. But we don’t examine the results of these people. We give them credit for great big hearts and for having wonderful intentions.

One of the interesting things that’s happening now, however, John — and I addressed this elegantly yesterday. The liberal Democrats over in the House and Senate, they are so cocky, they are so arrogant that they are more open about who they are and what they think than ever before — and this will be their undoing. Liberalism has always had to be disguised to win national elections in this country. It’s always had to have been disguised, and Obama knows it. So I think this guy has been well taught. You talk about service academies. I think he’s been groomed for this. I think he’s been taught, groomed, mentored to be able to reach this height in the middle of deception by pretending and convincing people he’s something other than what he is. For example, he’s not a moderate; he’s not unique; he’s not above politics; he’s not postpartisan; he’s not postracial.

He’s just the most radical liberal Democrat that has ever attained the White House. Now, he is still practicing the deception. The liberal Democrats over in the House and Senate, not so much. The Barney Franks are pretty out in the open about what they want to do and what they want to say. The Barbara Boxers, ditto; and a lot of his cabinet people, ditto. But he is still practicing the art of deception. When you get into “treason,” that’s a specific criminal charge. I wouldn’t go there. I think this is just politics. He’s supposed to be above politics. But I agree with you that his agenda, his designs on this country are nothing — nothing anywhere close — to his stated designs, desires, agenda, or what have you. It is why I say (to the shock and chagrin of many) that rising unemployment is something being done purposefully. … [emphasis mine]

Mr. Limbaugh goes on further with more of the transcript at the referenced link.

NBC’s Nightly News recently covered the eligibility issue (video link) and NewsBusters responded.

The LibertarianRepublican blog featured a video by Liz Cheney who suggested that those who question the eligibility issue have legitimate concerns:

And reporter Linda Bentley at Sonoran News reports that Chris Strunk has filed a complaint in USDC for DC over the 2010 census:

WASHINGTON – Last week, Brooklyn, N.Y. resident Christopher Earl Strunk filed a complaint in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia requesting a three-judge panel hear his complaint seeking a temporary restraining order with injunctive relief against defendants’ conduct of the 2010 Decennial Census.

Named defendants include the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of the Census; Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez; New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg; New York Province of the Society of Jesus; Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano; House of Representatives; Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi; Barry Soetoro (AKA Barack Hussein Obama); the states of California, Texas, Maryland and Hawaii.

Struck believes the federal defendants, including Barry Soetoro, a.k.a Barack Hussein Obama, whom he also refers to as “the Usurper,” are acting in concert with state defendants as a matter of fraud connected to the “use of tourists as if citizens for unjust enrichment.”
By counting “tourists” as if they were permanent residents, Strunk accuses the Census Bureau of disproportionately diminishing and diluting his voting strength, speech and associated representation in elections and in Congress.

More details are at the referenced link.

Update: The Associated Press has written on the “New burst of attention,” and CBS News asks, “Who Are the Birthers?”

And after having brought up the issue once before, Lou Dobbs goes after the birth certificate issue again, this time with my most recently analyzed Roland “S.” Martin:

  • [...] To briefly reminisce, it was back in July of this year when the press began to seriously probe the eligibility issue. Then, talk radio host Rush Limbaugh broached the subject a few times. [...]

Black Lion, you’re actually wrong. In Perkins v. Elg, not that it matters, but the parents were naturalized U.S. Citizens, who then immigrated to Sweden, and got citizenship there.

Sorry. Thank you for the correction. I missed that.

Either way the excessive media coverage on this issue has forced politicans to take sides and stop unofficially supporting this birther movement. For instance the so called lady that called in regarding President Obama’s BC is not exactly the regular concerned Delaware citizen off the street…

    http://gawker.com/5323938/meet-crazy-eileen-the-birther

“Last month, Republican Representative Mike Castle was confronted by a woman demanding proof that Barack Obama is a citizen. The lady has been identified, and she is, of course, nicknamed “Crazy Eileen.” Apparently she calls into a local talk radio station all the time. In this clip, she is talking about aliens. Also she predicts Armageddon in 95 years.”

As some of the people in the movement become identified, it makes the movement look worse. Even some of the most conservative individuals out there like Ann Coulter that hate President Obama are coming out against these individuals….

Phil, agreed. Just like seeing Russia from your house doesn’t make you an expert of foriegn relations.

“You have to let it go. Even hard news sources, credible news sources — the comment about, you can see Russia from Alaska. You can! You can see Russia from Alaska. Something like that — a factual statement that was taken out of context and mocked — what you have to do is let that go.” (Sara Palin)

If you are going to ridicule Palin, could you at least spell foreign correctly???

Maybe you should avoid using Tina Fey as your source.

Sharon2, and you may want make sure you spell Ms. Palin’s first name correctly before you attempt to try and call someone out…It is Sarah not Sara…and her actual quote was…

“As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border.”

Yes, it was a very insightful statement and it explains her foreign policy experience in a nutshell.

The bottom line was that my original quote was made to poke a little fun at Phil, because as much as we debate I respect him and the work he puts into his blog and enjoy our debates…I didn’t realize that I there were so many Palin supporters that would take it so seriously….

But Perkins v. Elg does destroy the claim that Dual-Citizens are barred from the U.S. Presidency, since there is no doubt that Elg was a dual citizen. And I see no reason why someone who’s lived here from birth, but has dual citizenship should be any more considered a Natural-Born Citizen than someone who obtained dual-citizenship in childhood. In fact, you could argue that the one who obtained it in childhood, since they actually lived in that country for a time and was naturalized according to their laws, would owe more of an allegance to the country than someone who has never lived in that country.

To be honest the best thing that ever happened was Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh mentioning the birthers and making the entire BC issue mainstream. For months the brithers would claim that the mainstream media was either controlled by or afraid of President Obama. So they would not report the story. But since they have rather than the so called demand for the President’s BC intensify, the actual result of this media blitz has been that the birthers have been ridiculed and been made the butt of a lot of jokes. The through debunking by all of the major media outlets has been swift and through. Not even FOX is really addressing the issue. Hannity, Beck, O’Reilly have not said a word. Only Dobbs has, and he has been eviserated by both other talk show hosts as well as other conservatives. Limbaugh won’t even mention it on his show anymore. This movement will have its 15 minutes, and 13 of them are already up.

Some interesting quotes from an article addressing this issue….

“But there was some good news last week, and it came from watching Dobbs’ slow motion train wreck unfold on the airwaves. It came from seeing how eagerly — how convincingly — the birther claims were debunked, not only online by progressives, but within the mainstream press as well — the same mainstream press that’s often reluctant to show up high-profile media players such as Dobbs, no matter how badly it has botched the facts. And let’s not forget conservatives, who dismissed and ridiculed the birther claims.”

“Limbaugh’s scared to talk about the birthers and won’t defend them because he has seen how Dobbs and the movement got manhandled by the press — including by conservative commentators. In fact, Limbaugh himself took some friendly fire from Philip Klein at the far-right American Spectator who, under the headline, “Shame on Rush,” announced: “To any sane human being, there is no controversy.”

“Limbaugh saw how the press was sticking to the birth certificate facts and wasn’t shy about knocking down high-paid radio hosts who tried to traffic in that nonsense.”

Sarah Palin did not say that she could see Russia from her house. She said a person can see Russia from Alaska. This is true.

The link below is a video of Republican GOP members being asked about the President’s BC and whether or not they thought he was a citizen….I guess not all of them got the memo from Rush and Lou Dobbs. A very honest response from Arizona congressman Trent Franks admits without any hesitation at all that he feels that President Obama was born in HI and is a US citizen. He seems to believe that the COLB issued by the state of HI is valid. I am sure that there will be a backlash by the birthers against this congressman, but it is good to see that some of the GOP members of congress have not been hoodwinked by this nonsense.
