Tea Party: The Results; July 4, 2009 is Next; GOP Rep BOO’ED for TARP Vote
(Pic from GaltsList blog) With the April 15 tea party day just over (and CNN’s journalistic hit job reaction thereto), it’s time to take a look at the results. According to the FiveThirtyEight blog, attendance was “at least 250,000″; see their link for a complete run-down of each State’s stats. WorldNetDaily is reporting 1 million attendees at 1,000 gatherings around America. PajamasMedia reports more than 500,000.

Several sites are attempting to ensure that the enthusiasm of yesterdays tea parties isn’t a flash in the pan, including AfterTheTeaParty.com [another link] and TaxDayTeaParty.com.
If 100-1,000 people show up at a rally, the event may or may not get media coverage, and that coverage may or may not be snarky or dismissive. Congressmen may or may not notice, and the President’s spokesman will announce he’s not aware of them.
But if 100-1,000 people show up at a town council, city council, etc. meeting, in most places, that’s an earthquake. It varies widely, but most local government budget meetings are sleepy affairs, and many local lawmakers are used to settling their spending with minimal scrutiny. They’ve never seen anything like several hundred people showing up with the same message of “don’t waste my money.”
In other words, if conservatives want to make sure stimulus funds don’t get spent on crap, applying pressure at the local level is a way to leverage the tea party energy into something with real impact on the ground. Who knows? It might even get some conservatives involved in government on a more regular basis. Back in 1996, an obscure Chicago lawyer and law school lecturer was motivated to get involved in state legislature, and within a decade, he was running for president.

There was a young man in my area recently who had the choice of the military or jail. He chose the military. His parents are hoping that the military will straighten him out. And, he’s not a bad young man, just needs some discipline.”

The Birthers
We are the Birthers, we are those who are under attack by the Mainstream Media, the once bastions of truth, have become the purveyors of cheap words. They want to mock us by giving us a label to discredit and marginalize us. This is nothing new, when people have no direction they attack those who do.
Labeling and ridiculing the opposition is a tactic of the communist union organizer Saul Alinsky which he detailed in his book, “Rules for Radicals”. Specifically that tactic is Rule #5. Obama is the grandmaster of Alinsky smear tactics and ridicule. He learned it well when he worked as a “community organizer” studying Alinsky the father of “community organizing”. A community organizer is simply a euphemism for a leader and trainer of radical agitators and street type demonstrations.
Lenin and Stalin had the “Bourgeois,” Hitler had the “Untermenschen,” Pol Pot had the “Intelligentsia,” and now Obama has the “Birthers.” People like this have always needed someone to blame for their own inadequacies, a scapegoat for their failures.
They expect us to revere their writings and status as mainstream reporting, they want us to fold like little children being scolded by the teacher. They are blind to their own impotence, so we accept their challenge and feel that it is best and fair that we give them a name too. They lost the right to be called reporters, for they no longer report, they have become distorters of truth.
We accept their name, the Birthers for wanting to give rebirth to that which we as Americans hold dear. To return the favor of giving us a name in which we can find a common identity, we in turn give them a name that must be our polarizing opposites, “the O-Borters.” For they are seeking to abort the fabric that has held America together, the Constitution of the United States of America.
The fact that we were given a name by our adversaries means that we are not going to go away soon, so it is best that you hear from us, exactly what is that we are seeking.
We seek strict adherence to the Constitution of the United States of America, regardless to the momentary passions of the body politic.

Sue: Here is what I think all the elected officials should do at the city, county, state and federal level. They should compile a list of services that they provide for the taxpayers with taxpayers money. Then, let the taxpayers decide what services they want to do without.
I agree that we need to put a limit on that government credit card. But how? A priority list could be included with your income tax filing. Priorities are the KEY! for the government just like they are for an individual’s budget.
Until the corruption in our government is removed, the individuals running this country will find a way to get around any limits that are set, perhaps with off the budget money like was given to the IMF without Congressional oversight at the G20 meeting in Europe. We need to clean out the corruption and we have the power to do it peacefully if we will just use it (before we lose it).
Sue, I do not feel comfortable will all of the view points presented on conservative blogs. Neither do I feel comfortable with what the MSM is trying to pass off as the “truth”. I have been driven to look elsewhere for information, including “conservative talk radio”. I am quite alarmed watching the continuing fiscal irresponsibility and the assault on the Constitution at the hands of the current government (yes, it started in the previous administration). It is unconscionable that the people running the government are ignoring what the “little people” have been trying to tell them.
We need to get the Patriot Act repealed. It is dangerous and wasn’t needed to find out about 9/11. (Washington ignored what the “little people” in the “field” tried to tell them then. If only you could legislate a willingness to listen.)
Perhaps you will add your voice to the group of people crying “foul” to Washington. Can we all agree that the current path leads to the destruction of our country? Only together can we do anything about it.
I hope to see you and your friends join the dissent at the next tea party.

I don’t know if it’s possible to get the permits but the next time we should protest on the corner next to or in front of the MSM. Fox, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, WGN, WTBS, NY, Chicago, LA Time and Post!
Make it hard for them to ignor us next time. We hould protest the MSM and their behavior. Now that they have choosen not to be news journalist but rather commentators and reporters supporting their agenda, the gloves should come off!

I am both overjoyed at the amount of support at the Tea Parties; those that flew their flags in patriotic spirit on April 15th and appalled at the feedback of some of the reporting and blog comments.
CNN reporter Susan Roesgen was in Chicago to cover the story and went with a chip the size of an ice berg on her shoulder. She shows her lacking skills as a professional reporter as she tries to debate with a few in the crowd. Whatever happened to just reporting the news?
Nancy Polise is clueless herself as she referred to it as Astroturf and not a real grassroots movement; she believes that American people cannot organize on their own, they have to be helped from somewhere; her delusional guess is the Rich.
I am appreciative of the support FOX news gave the Tea Parties; in truth they jumped on the bandwagon late in the game. They did not create the Tea Parties, the American people did. Those Americans who didn’t forget about Government after the election, those who paid attention and were outraged by the spending that was coming out of Washington. Those who watched as Congress submitted and passed laws and didn’t care if they violated our Constitutional rights or not. Those who were ignored when they wrote and called their representatives saying NO to the pork filled stimulus bill, a conservative measure of 2 to 1 against. A bill that is over 1600 pages they never even bothered to read before voting on. That alone should be a criminal offence with a demand for removal of any politician guilty of such.
The rhetoric of the current administration that tries to apply a fairy tale to the hoax of tax breaks. Who will be paying for those voted in pet projects in the long run? Will the Representatives that submitted the research for pig odor in Idaho, at the cost of 1.7 billion dollars, step up and have their wages garnished to pay for it?
Tax breaks? Maybe on income, but they will be showing up elsewhere, The Federal Government has the credit card and we are the piggy bank. We are wise to the double speak coming from the teleprompter and we aren’t buying it.
Was this a movement of party affliction? Hell no, we are discussed with both sides. They both have a hand in getting this in this mess. They believe they are wiser than us. Well, who passed the spending bills that caused the massive deficit? Who had to toss in 88% of pure pork in the stimulus, in an already stressed economy? You caused it, and you have no clue how to fix it.
Americans that believe in the essence of what American truly stands for are standing up and yelling loud and clear “We are fed up.” It might have taken us awhile, but now that we are up and angry we are not going to sit back down and let Government run amuck. One thing you will find out about Patriot Americans, we accept our own blame in this mess; we know we should have spoke up sooner and let our voices be heard. This is something that has been coming to a boiling point for decades, not one party, not one administration, but the whole of the accumulative rape of this Country.
By law of this Nation, dear Federal Government, you only have a tally of 18 powers to govern, Our States and “WE THE PEOPLE” has the rest; and we are taking America back.

Fresno California wasn’t on the list—we had them sign in and had 7,500 probably more—I had to run and have more signature sheets made up. It was huge and everything went smoothly without a mess to clean up. Everyone had a great time! Pelosi is wrong!!!! It was totally a grass root effort in Fresno. Can’t wait till July 4th–WE THE PEOPLE—are in full steam ahead mode. Already have people who want to speak at the next Great Tea Party. We will not be silenced!

Tea Party in Toledo was a rousing success. We had about 1,000, even in the cold, wind & rain. And my talk on NRA & 2nd amend rights got tons of cheers & applause. Their pick to have a “small blond woman” speak about this was a perfect decision. Wore my NRA cap & showed them my NRA card. Wadded up Constitution & threw it in a trash can “just like the people in DC are doing.” Then read the 2nd amend, and said “this sentence was put here to protect WE THE PEOPLE from an oppressive govt. Are we now gonna let an oppressive govt. put this piece of paper in the trash too?” BIG applause. Former Toledo Police Chief who came after me even said “I’m not even going to try and top this lady!”
Afterwards, I got one marriage proposal, an offer from a Marine to help me pick out a rifle, 2 fellas asking me to go to the range with them, and a couple of requests to give the same talk elsewhere.
Gotta face it. People love their guns. And will certainly stick up for 2nd amend rights.
P.S. We had Dems, Repubs, Independs & Libertarians there. This was not a “right wing conspiracy by the Repubs” as many are saying.

The MSM and the elected officials are missing the point. Far be it from me to point out the obvious, but here goes;
1. Most Americans are willing to pay taxes to an elected government that dispenses those funds as the representatives see fit. The umbrage of the taxpayer is not, necessarily, with the collection but with the unequal disbursement (SPENDING). Defense, national parks, NASA, mail service, border protection and immigration, etc. are understood to be at the discretion of the elected party. Fine. Historically, all administrations and congresses are EXPECTED to remain to the confines of the taxes collected. The Republicans were voted out of office for their failure to remain within these constraints (admittedly the Democrats have had Congress since 2006). The most recent congress and administration has violated that, once sacrosant, compact with the United States Citizen-Taxpayer at thier own peril.
2. Spending. I am not an economist, but any rube can see that our currency is diminished through the printing of more dollars and our national security compromised by our debt being held by foreign powers (especially communist). Above all that, it is economic suicide to be compelled to pay interest on debt that could go to the viability of our Republic (i.e. infrastructure, defense, education, etc.).
3. Shame on our media and government for dismissing the character of the recent protest. It was not violent. It was not a product of a powerful concerted power broker (i.e. Soros). It was in fact immensely civil and largely representative of the status quo. The MSM would hold that unless the debate is on the level of McVeigh or Ayers it is inconsequential. Wow.
4. July 4th is the next opportunity to show the socialist-left how adults show their displeasure with the current tax and spend government. I expect it to be congruent with 15APR but larger and similarly civil.
5. Good for you America for recognizing we are screwing our kids (and their kids). Adults pay taxes and sacrifice their sons and daughters on the alter of liberty. So be it and good. That responsible nature doesn’t preclude outrage when that faith is found placed in the hands of the criminally irresponsible. The Republicans rightfully suffered their due…what makes the Democrats immune to equivelant expectations of accountability?
6. Democrats don’t pay taxes and obviously don’t expect their children to either…so there is no measurable harm to running up a TWENTY TRILLION DOLLAR ($20,000,000,000,000) debt in ten years (they must assume the adults will take care of it later). Sickening and repugnant to all those who value the principles of accountability and responsibility.
7. Though I voted for McCain (not an NBC) I am NOT a Republican per se, I just favored his reform message over the then and current “transformation” idealology being implemented. Unfortunately, I’m like a broken watch, correct twice a day. I wonder what the other thing I’ll be right about. Gee, I hope it is not the failure to combat the supremacy of Islam.
Please, God, don’t let it be our failure to combat the supremacy of Islam.
