CNN Tea Party Push-Back: Tea Parties “anti-CNN”; Update: Blog Catches Reporter Off Camera; Reporter’s Email AWOL
SHOCK! CNN taking the tea parties personally (via MediaBistro; @PoliticalSurf):
CNN correspondent Susan Roesgen could barely get through her live shot at the Chicago tea party this afternoon. Over shouts of, “You’re not a reporter,” Roesgen quickly wrapped up an interview with an attendee, then said, “I think you get the general tenor of this. It’s anti-government, anti-CNN since this is highly promoted by the right-wing conservative network Fox.”
FoxNews responded:
A Fox News spokesperson responds to TVNewser, “Judging by their lack of ratings, everyone seems to be anti-CNN.”
Also, Shepherd Smith and Neil Cavuto briefly mention:
While this has not been the only reporting done by CNN, this is yet further evidence that the mainstream media (of which CNN appears to be the top source) is, quite obviously, exceptionally elitist and couldn’t care less about what concerned citizens without a title have to say about reality in America.
Seriously — where do they get these reporters? That wasn’t a report; that was a journalistic hit job.
Update: Per FoundingBloggers, the same CNN reporter got a “what-for” from a couple of other concerned citizens:
CNN shut the segment down quickly, with a few editorial insults toward the Tea Partiers thrown in for good measure.
“I think you get the general tenor of this. It’s anti-government, anti-CNN since this is highly promoted by the right-wing conservative network Fox.”
Founding Bloggers was on the scene, and we have footage of the schooling Susan Roesgen received from angry attendees after she signed off.
Update: FoundingBloggers.com recieved another video from a different angle from another reader:
Michelle Malkin covered this, too:
So, the Tea Party protests are “not fit for family viewing” according to one very unhappy CNN reporter, Susan Roesgen, who also fumes over what she calls an “offensive” anti-Obama sign that compares Obama to a fascist. (And yes, I told you this was going to happen.)
But guess what? Newsbusters caught the same indignantly indignant Susan Roesgen covering an anti-Bush rally in New Orleans in which she blithely refers to a huge Bush puppet with horns and a Hitler mustache as a “lookalike.”
Update: CNN’s Susan Roesgen has a different tone when it’s a left-wing protest:
Update: Ms. Roesgen’s email is toast:
…Well, for the past day Americans have been emailing her to let her know how they feel about her unprofessional attitude. Apparently, CNN does not appreciate hearing from its viewers, though, because all of a sudden anyone that sends an email to Roesgen’s CNN email address will have it returned as address unknown! …
If you’d like to email CNN about its unprofessional “journalists” try these other email addresses:

Capitalism ‘threatens life on the planet’
http://rabble.ca/news/2009/04/declaration-cuman%C3%A1-capitalism-threatens-life-planet
“We, the Heads of State and Government of Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Honduras, Nicaragua and Venezuela [Willima Ayer's and Obama's friend Hugo Chavez]…
1. Capitalism is leading humanity and the planet to extinction…
2. Capitalism has caused the environmental crisis, by submitting the necessary conditions for life in the planet, to the predominance of market and profit…
3. The global economic crisis, climate change, the food crisis and the energy crisis are the result of the decay of capitalism, which threatens to end life and the planet…”
So, when does Obama apologize to the UN-Americans for the United States leading humanity and the planet to extinction, for the environmental crisis, for the global economic crisis, climate change, the food crisis and the energy crisis?
So, when does the DHS add “capitalists” to Obama’s list of “domestic terrorists”?
The irony of it is that the media dosent get it. They do a terrible job of reporing the real news, then tell you its all the news fit to print and then go and ask for a hand out themselves. The newspapers are going bankrup and I would think that would be because the purchasing public simply doesnt trust their reports. Now that the print industry is almost gone the cable and networks are making the same mistake. No objectivity in reporting and you become part of the message. Big mistake. The current message from washington is ignorance (‘Obama was unaware of the tea parties’) and soon the broadcast media will be swimming down a sea of red ink as viewership abadons propaganda media for ‘facts’ reporting.
Americans have not yet lost their minds and the Broadcast news media will pay the price for thinking they have!

Rude. Crass. Arguementive. No wonder CNN is in the Pits. This so called reporter should be in an unemployment line somewhere in North Podunk.

Susan Roesgen’s email at CNN was shut down. We suggest now sending your emails first to CNN Executive Vice President Ken Jautz at: ken.jautz@cnn.com
Additionally, please let Susan’s boss know how unacceptable it is for a journalist to become a left-wing activist in trying to defame and denounce a legitimate and honest political movement by Americans who are being robbed blind by our government and spent into a debt from which will be unimaginably difficult to ever pay off.
So please also write to Philip Kent, the Chairman & CEO of CNN: phil.kent@turner.com

But let’s not confuse the two. The tax protests are right-wing and some are arguably radical; the fringe stuff of this blog is the birthers and their conspiracy theories. An off-center political stance is one thing, living in a fantasy world is another.

“Try hiring some actual Journalists to cover the news instead of just a person with a camera and microphone.”
I disagree. She was not just a (simple) person with a microphone. A simple person with a microphone with a simple question or 2 was all that was needed here. The people speaking were intelligent and emotionally charged and we don’t see enough of that in our news and our society. Too many intelligent citizens try to control their behaviors. When intelligent people get energized, something real is happening.
An open letter to CNN and the other mainstream mockers:
The American people are entitled to know whether or not Barack Hussein Obama traveled to Pakistan in 1981 as an Indonesian citizen, with an Indonesian passport.
The American people are entitled to know whether or not Barack Hussein Obama received grants as a foreign student while attending Occidental College.
In my opinion, the United States is now behind enemy lines…
The United States Constitution states the following: “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President”.
Even if Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii, he is not eligible “to the Office of President”, as his father was British citizen.
The Supreme Court of the United States in THE VENUS relied upon Vattel’s “Law of Nations” as the authority in determining the citizenship status of a “domicil”.
With regard to Vattel, THE VENUS court specifically stated, “Vattel, …is more explicit and more satisfactory on it [CITIZENSHIP ISSUES] than any other whose work has fallen into my hands, says, ‘the citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or indigenes, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens.’ ”
The natives, or natural born citizens, “are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens.” Barack Hussein Obama’s father was not a citizen of the United States. Thus, even if Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii, he is NOT a “natural born citizen”.
Vattel’s Law of Nations
§ 212. Citizens and natives.
The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights. The society is supposed to desire this, in consequence of what it owes to its own preservation; and it is presumed, as matter of course, that each citizen, on entering into society, reserves to his children the right of becoming members of it. The country of the fathers is therefore that of the children; and these become true citizens merely by their tacit consent. We shall soon see whether, on their coming to the years of discretion, they may renounce their right, and what they owe to the society in which they were born. I say, that, in order to be of the country, it is necessary that a person be born of a father who is a citizen; for, if he is born there of a foreigner, it will be only the place of his birth, and not his country.
U.S. Supreme Court, THE VENUS, 12 U.S. 253 (1814)
As this question is not only decisive of many claims now depending before this Court, but is also of vast importance to our merchants generally, I may be excused for stating, at some length, the reasons on which my opinion is founded.
The whole system of decisions applicable to this subject, rests on the law of nations as its base. It is, therefore, of some importance to enquire how far the writers on that law consider the subjects of one power residing within the territory of another, as retaining their original character, or partaking of the character of the nation in which they reside.
Vattel, …is more explicit and more satisfactory on it [CITIZENSHIP ISSUES] than any other whose work has fallen into my hands, says, ‘the citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or indigenes, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. Society not being able to subsist and to perpetuate itself but by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights.’ ‘The inhabitants, as distinguished from citizens, are strangers who are permitted to settle and stay in the country. Bound by their residence to the society, they are subject to the laws of the state, while they reside there, and they are obliged to defend it, because it grants
[Page 12 U.S. 253, 290]
them protection, though they do not participate in all the rights of citizens. They enjoy only the advantages which the laws, or custom gives them. The perpetual inhabitants are those who have received the right of perpetual residence. These are a kind of citizens of an inferior order, and are united and subject to the society, without participating in all its advantages.’ ‘The domicil is the habitation fixed in any place, with an intention of always staying there. A man does not, then, establish his domicil in any place, unless he makes sufficiently known his intention of fixing there, either tacitly or by an express declaration. However, this declaration is no reason why, if he afterwards changes his mind, he may not remove his domicil elsewhere. In this sense, he who stops, even for a long time, in a place, for the management of his affairs, has only a simple habitation there, but has no domicil.’
A domicil, then, in the sense in which this term is used by Vattel, requires not only actual residence in a foreign country, but ‘an intention of always staying there.’ Actual residence without this intention, amounts to no more than ’simple habitation.’
Although this intention may be implied without being expressed, it ought not, I think, to be implied, to the injury of the individual, from acts entirely equivocal. If the stranger has not the power of making his residence perpetual, if circumstances, after his arrival in a country, so change, as to make his continuance there disadvantageous to himself, and his power to continue, doubtful; ‘an intention always to stay there’ ought not, I think, to be fixed upon him, in consequence of an unexplained residence previous to that change of circumstances. Mere residence, under particular circumstances, would seem to me, at most, to prove only an intention to remain so long as those circumstances continue the same, or equally advantageous. This does not give a domicil. The intention which gives a domicil is an unconditional intention ‘to stay always.’
Boycott CNN! We have the power to make their ratings drop even further that what they are now.
That arrogant woman should loose her job!

Those of you who are so thankful for Fox News’ reporting of these Tea Party events are forgetting the fact that Fox was just one of the gang while Obama was running for President. They refused to ask him the tough questions, refused to look further into Ayers and Wright, and did not properly vet him by requesting his college records and thesis papers. These were common place in previous elections — remember Bush and Kerry’s college and military records? Al Gore’s college records? Fox may be making it up now — but they were just as celebratory as CNN and MSNBC on election night. I couldn’t figure that out!
***************************************************************************
You are wrong Lori—-Sean Hannity repeatedly reported on Ayers, Wright, Rezco and anyone else connected to the IMPOSTER…he was and still does constantly hammer the Usurper with these connections!!! I don’t know what Fox News station you are watching but they are the only media that gives you both sides of the story so quit complaining about the only News channel which has some resemblance of FAIR and BALANCED!!!

Good job glacialhills….however I wouldn’t waste my time on CNN….. you see they evidently get that kind of reporting because that is all they can afford…..it cost money to get real journalist who want to do a good job and report the news in an unbiased manner!!!

I have heard and read that anywhere from 190,000 people (from Rush) to 800,000 people attended these parties. That is less than 1% of the population. I don’t think that these parties should have gotten as much attention as they did. There were too many people at these parties who did more to harm the “movement” than help it- with crazy signs, hats and odd, off the cuff statements. Many came across as the town loons- not patriotic protesters. If they got mocked it was more to do with their dis-jointed message than anything else. When there isn’t a single coherent theme no one will take them seriously.

Oh really….says who…YOU OBOT???? This is only the beginning….this is bi-partisan…and as an Independent who voted for Bill Clinton but not the IMPOSTER…I think you need to wake up and realize…you have been duped and the government is stealing more and more of our freedoms and liberties with each passing day…it has only gotten worse with the Democrats in control of every branch of our government now……You need to WAKE UP and COME TO THE PARTY….THE TEA PARTY!!!!
Those of you who are so thankful for Fox News’ reporting of these Tea Party events are forgetting the fact that Fox was just one of the gang while Obama was running for President. PssssT…..Hey CNN,want better ratings? … Try hiring some actual Journalists to cover the news instead of just a person with a camera and microphone. Why don’t you stop being the news and try to start actually REPORTING the news for a change.Putting this uninformed, flaming liberal administration agenda regurgitating “reporter” out to pasture would be a good start.
Considering CNN’s ratings, I am not the only one that thought that a reporters job was to find out what is going on the best they can, without bias, or injecting their personal views, and then figure out how to convey that information to the audience. I think inserting your agenda, and interrupting and shouting down someone you are interviewing all the while bashing all the folks surrounding you, bashing a fellow news network, and dismissing the story you are “trying” to report because you saw a sign that was anti Obama and therefore the whole thing is not family friendly is a bit disingenuous.Especially since less than a year ago you were reporting on Demonstrations against President Bush where he was compared to Hitler,a dunce, and the devil, and reporting it with verve and vigor finding it more than fit for family viewing.
This, among other examples, is the quintessential reason for your low ratings. But heck, now that I think about it, I actually think I might start watching CNN again,Watching the coverage cnn thinks we should see is very educational, and I also love a good laugh now and again.
I have heard and read that anywhere from 190,000 people (from Rush) to 800,000 people attended these parties. That is less than 1% of the population. What kind of drugs is this woman on? How insulting, disgraceful, disgusting……………..she’d make a great communist regurgatator……………oh, wait, I think she already is.
Bravo. Thank god for the bloggers. I am a registered Democrat. I am sick and tired of this BS from both parties to create a facist government. Period!
The lib media is utterly beyond shame. Without a responsible media, it is left to the American people to inform themselves. I hope they’re up to it. Only American engagement can blunt the damage perpetrated by an irresponsible press.
The only decent show on CNN is Lou Dobb’s show, as he is somewhat objective. There were 2,500+ at the Tea Party in the liberal Albany, NY. I was quite surprised. It is a breath of fresh air to see so many early US Flags. So far one of the best signs I have seen is, “Socialism is like B.O.”
This is exactly why FOX NEWS is beating everyone in the ratings with their fair and balanced reporting!! Thank God we have one News network actually doing their jobs!!!
Thank God for Fox News. Or we would here half truth about everything.
This reporter should be ashamed ! She has broken the trust of the people, and her employer by “dis-information” and accusations not based on facts.
Illinios only recieved $3 billion.
Stimulus Watch – All States

She presented no evidence at all to her accusations that these ordinary citizens were not there by thier own liberty and concerns of taxation without representation.
Gaining her marxist (totalitarianism) pin lapel was more important to her than the truth.
Thier fall will be great, as thier CNN foundation is clearly on quicksand, and no business or building can remain standing thus built upon.
This is good to know, I never realized how Anti American CNN really is. CNN is a total DISGRACE to the news community and any American that believes in them.
What is wrong with the listeners making their own opinion on what is reported?
What ever happened to reporting the news w/o BIAS???
CNN has a major problem by forcing their own agenda on Americans. These people at the Tea Parties are of all walks of life. How does CNN think they can treat their own listeners this way???
The people will wake up sooner or later and realize what is going on.
What journalism school did that witch attend? Yikes, she took a total Jerry Springer attitude from the get-go…totally confrontational…first mention was about the man’s two year old. What point was she trying to make? WITCH!!!
Roesgen seemed to have a little attitudinal problemmmmmmm.
What did she think she was going to do? Send everyone home.
The “The Tea Parties” are “ALL” Taxpayer’s, not just
right winger’s.
“Right wing extremists!”
I’ve heard these recently showered masses even believe in the U.S. Constitution! Gasp! They may even uphold the Declaration’s first principles, some of them!
They must be put down!
ha ha ha CNN? the lowest rated cable “news” station?
they still on?
ha ha ha CNN = communist news network , everyone knows THAT !

Somali “pirates” were simply teenage Muslim community organizers, like Obama, whom Obama ordered to be shot, when all they wanted to do was to “spread the wealth”…
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_041409/content/01125110.guest.html
RUSH: “You know what we have learned about the Somali pirates, the merchant marine organizers that were wiped out at the order of Barack Obama, you know what we learned about them? They were teenagers. The Somali pirates, the merchant marine organizers who took a US merchant captain hostage for five days were inexperienced youths, the defense secretary, Roberts Gates, said yesterday, adding that the hijackers were between 17 and 19 years old. Now, just imagine the hue and cry had a Republican president ordered the shooting of black teenagers on the high seas… They were kids. The story is out, …apparently the hijackers, these kids, the merchant marine organizers, Muslim kids, were upset, they wanted to just give the captain back and head home because they were running out of food, they were running out of fuel, they were surrounded by all these US Navy ships, big ships, and they just wanted out of there. That’s the story, but then when one of them put a gun to the back of the captain, Mr. Phillips, then bam, bam, bam. There you have it, and three teenagers shot on the high seas at the order of President Obama.”
Sharpton: “The so-called pirates, they call themselves voluntary Coast Guard in Somalia…”
RUSH: “Well, there you have it, from one of America’s true leaders of the civil rights movement, the black community, they’re not even pirates. They are voluntary coast guards. So in fact what we have here, according to the Reverend Sharpton, these young kids, black Muslim kids, three of which were ordered shot by President Obama on Sunday afternoon, they’re just a voluntary Coast Guard trying to protect Somalia, they’re just patrolling off the coast of Somalia as sort of a voluntary National Guard, so-called pirates, they’re not really pirates, according to reverend Sharpton… They’re just community organizers and they have decided to organize out on the high seas as a means of protecting their beloved country, is all this is about.”
