State Initiative Update: ND, UT Considering Legislation to Modify Statutes
Per the SaveOurRights wiki, North Dakota’s Legislative Assembly and Utah’s Legislature are considering the following:
We do not specifically “vet” the eligibility of the candidates as you have asked, but we do have a bill before the 2009 Legislative Assembly in which we are asking for a modification of the Affidavit of Candidacy form so it can include the following statement, “I have reviewed the requirements to hold office and I certify that I am qualified to serve if elected.” The candidate would then be signing this statement and their signature would be notarized. As I’m sure is true in all states, it is illegal to make a false statement on a government form.

We understand that the legislature will consider modifications to the sections governing candidates not affiliated with registered political parties and write-in candidates in the upcoming general session. You may view the bill at:

The states need to make sure they have specific clauses that do NOT grandfather any candidates in. Make sure to have multiple requirements including certified long form birth certificates.
While I think that that kind of legislation can help it is clear BHO signed various documents making false statements.
