Roland Burris Will Be Seated*

Roland Burris Will Be Seated*

* There are a few strings attached:

[W]e already knew that Senator Dianne Feinstein has repudiated the letter she signed that opposed any Blagojevich pick - thanks for showing fear, Senator; we’ll be sure to keep it in mind the next time we need something from you – and (via the Note) George Stephanopoulos reported this morning that a deal was being contemplated where Burris might be seated, if he promised not to run in 2010. I suppose that would make him, what, about 3/5th of a real Senator?

So it’s a good possibility that Reid’s managed to do this; after all, it’s managed to combine the negative consequences of all three scenarios mentioned here. By seating Burris, Reid demonstrates that he and the rest of the caucus won’t keep his word; by seating Burris after turning him away, Reid got to play Wallace at the Schoolhouse Door; and by seating Burris with restrictions, Reid begs the question of whether Burris’ skin melanin content was a factor in what is increasingly a tangled skein of identity politics.

And none of this has anything to do with the GOP. None of this. We - like the rest of the country, actually - wanted a special election. If only Reid and his party didn’t find democracy so infernally messy

Looks like the dear Majority Leader did, in fact, cave!

CBS2 Chicago has more as well.

P.S. Great picture of Blago! Tells the whole story in a glance! Ya suppose he made the suggestion to Burris that he’d get an express pass to the seat with that one little NBC comment?

“sounds like Burris threatened the DNC with the OBAMA “ineligibility” card, they backed down, and played
    “lets make a deal”.”

Yes, absolutely, without a doubt, bingo, bullseye.

Yesterday I read on another post that Burris, in his statement of eligibility for the office, had written that he was “over 30 years of age and a natural born citizen” of the United States.

This fact, and the obvious intent of the barb embedded in it, is mentioned in the blogs. Picture it! No sooner has one of his paid bloggers brought this to his attention than BO leaves skid marks on the rug getting to the phone to tell Reid to make this problem go away. Make it go away FAST!

Now suddenly, every Democrat on Capitol hill is scrambling to get out of Roland’s way and be his best pal. Is there the remotest chance that these two things are NOT related? No way. Zip. Zilch. Zero chance.

everyone knows OBAMA is a fraud.

Eveyone should know that the whole DNC is hanging by a thread

    on this fraud.

But due to the lame street press, we Americas are not being informed , our corrupt government resumes, we Americans never the wiser for it all.

Upset am I> you betcha. And you should be too. We are not lemmings or idiots. Our tax dollars stolen for fake bail outs ! Our borders compromised by sellout of representatives not upholding our Constitution. Sanctuary cities. Illegals gunning down our citizens in cold blood, stealing our jobs, ruining our infrastructure ! etc. etc. etc.
When are the people going to take back their government and throw out these out of touch political hacks??
    When?

  • The biggest laugh I got yesterday was having Fox News put a big red circle over Burris’ face with a DENIED caption over it. The man is qualified, I think he should be seated with no strings attached. What he should do is “promise” Harry Reid he won’t run in 2010, and then go ahead and do it anyhow! What’s Reid gonna do then, sue? Would be great payback on Burris’ part.
